LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's soccer team (2-8, 1-4 SCIAC) withstood 16 first half shots by Occidental College Saturday morning thanks to seven Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) saves, but the Tigers would score twice on 12 more shots in the second 45 to beat the Bulldogs 2-0.
Immoos was tested early and often, making two saves in the first 10 minutes before Claire August (Mountlake Terrace, WA) and Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA) each had shots miss the mark in the 13th and 14th minutes.
After another pair of saves by Immoos, Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR) put her shot wide left in the 28th minute.
The game went into the half scoreless thanks to three more saves across the last 11 minutes by Immoos.
Redlands responded to the first half well, not allowing a single attempt by Occidental in the first eight minutes of the second half. But six seconds into the ninth minute of the half, the 54th overall, Immoos made a save to her left, which bounced to a Tiger who then cleaned it up with a goal past a diving Immoos.
The Bulldogs' first and only shot on goal came from Kate Wagner (San Jose, CA) in the 77th as her attempt to equalize was handled by the Tiger keeper.
Six minutes later an insurance goal snuck past Immoos by the Tigers, which finished off the game, 2-0.
Immoos finished with nine saves, which gives her 85 this season and 158 in career. Her season total is now seventh-most, 36 off Shannon Stewart's record from 2023. Her career mark is ninth.
Redlands now turns their attention to Wednesday, October 7 when they host No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer at 4:00 p.m. for their Breast Cancer Awareness game.
