FLAGSTAFF Ariz./CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands indoor and outdoor track and field teams competed in Arizona at the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Tune-Up indoors and Salo/Crenna Invitational outdoors at Pomona-Pitzer.
NAU Tune-Up
The Bulldog men posted four new Top-10 times indoors including new program records by Jude Holling (Sylmar, CA) and Christian Ferguson (San Diego, CA). On the women's side they had two inside the Top-10 and a program record by Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA).
Jaiden Coleman (Las Vegas, NV) took 12th in the 200m, finishing in 22.32, the fifth-fastest time in program history.
The new program record in the 400m came from Holling when he ran a 49.90 placing seventh. His time surpasses the previous record-holder Nick Burchett's time by 1.11 seconds.
The final two Top-10 marks came in the weight throw. Ferguson improved his previous school record to 17.82m after a second-place finish. Ty Murga (Indio, CA) posted a 15.20m and is No. 2 all-time thanks to his 11th-place finish.
Semmere ran a 25.26 placing seventh in the 200m. Her time surpasses the time set by Sydney Harness, a 25.74 from 2023 at the same meet, for the new program record.
Madison Eaton (Rocklin, CA) took fourth in the High Jump. Her height of 1.57m, 5' 1 ¾" is the fifth-best mark in program history. Mari Evonuk (Sherwood, OR) took third in the event with a 1.62m, 5' 3 ¾"
Salo/Crenna Invite
In most athletes' first meet indoors or outdoors since last spring, the Bulldogs had a total of 16 men finish inside the Top-10 of their event, while the women had 15 of their own.
In the sprints Jacob Perkins (Mission Viejo, CA) took 10th in the 100m (11.36) as did Jeremiah Williams (Desert Hot Springs, CA) (11.36), though, Perkins edged him in thousands of seconds. Williams added an eighth-place finish in the 200m (22.88). Nikolas Sorich (San Jose, CA) took ninth in the 110 Hurdles (17.87).
In the mile Matthew Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) came across the line in ninth with a time of 4:24.19.
In the field events Nate Reinhard (Meadow Vista, CA) led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish (4.25m, 13' 11 ¼"). Cody Bain (Tustin, CA) took eighth (3.95m, 12' 11 ½").
The jumping events included Cameron Kisob (Burbank, CA) (6th, 6.16m, 20' 2 ½"), Marshall Lewis (Powell, WY) (8th, 6.09m, 19' 11 ¾"), and Patrick Lang II (San Antonio, TX) (9th, 5.88m, 19' 3 ½"). The Triple Jump had Roman Juni (San Jose, CA) take second (12.98m, 42' 7"), Lewis fifth (12.31m, 40' 4 ¾"), and Kisob ninth (11.32m, 37' 1 ¾").
The throws had a pair inside the Top-10 in the Shot Put with James Felio (San Jacinto, CA) in fifth (12.29m, 40' 4") and Derek Delgado (Fullerton, CA) in sixth (12.28m, 40' 3 ½"). Michael Alvarado Gonzales (Fontana, CA) was also ninth in the Hammer (38.07m, 124' 11").
Sabrina Tanouye (Elkhart Lake, WI) and Abi Ibarra (Littleton, CO) took third and fourth in the 100m with times of 12.73 and 12.83, respectively. Tanouye and Ibarra went ninth and second in the 200m with times of 26.91 and 26.11.
In the 100 Hurdles Leilani Mayne (Calexico, CA) and Shaylee Heron ran 15.73 and 17.23, which placed them fifth and ninth.
In the field events the Bulldogs were very strong. Ashlynn Alderman (Richland, WA) took 10th in the Pole Vault (2.45m, 8' 0 ½"). Sophia Knowles (Alta Loma, CA) (5.07m, 16' 7 ¾"), Mayne (4.77m, 15' 7 ¾"), and Heron (4.65m, 15' 3 ¼") had strong performances in the Long Jump, finishing second, seventh, and 10th. Then in the Triple Jump Kiera Lambert (La Mirada, CA) was eighth (9.59m, 31' 5 ¾").
The throws team added Top-10 finishes from Ellie Mann (Portland, OR) in the Shot Put (5th, 9.93m, 32' 7"), Sophia Gerken (Peoria, AZ) in the Discus (5th, 39.55m, 129' 9") and Hammer (10th, 32.20m, 105' 8"), and Keegan Sherry (Edmonds, WA) (6th, 31.59m, 103' 8") in the Javelin.
Redlands indoor athletes will compete at the Wartburg College Qualifier, in Waverly, Iowa, March 6-7 as the Bulldogs will have one final qualifying opportunity for the NCAA Indoor Championships held in Birmingham, Alabama on March 13-14.
