LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) led the way at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Saturday for the University of Redlands track and field teams as he took 12th in a field of 217 and set the new second-fastest 5000m time in program history.
Asper ran a 14:38.98, which moves him to within 8.11 seconds of Don Isaak's school record, which he set in 1973. He is one of only two Bulldogs from the 2020's inside the Top-8.
Matthew Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) ran a 4:09.06 and took 32nd out of 130 runners in the 1500m.
David Huggins (Salem, OR) took sixth out of 38 runners in the 10,000m as he came across the line in 32:02.46.
The other notable finisher was Joseph O'Donnell (Fullerton, CA), who was the runner up in the 3000m steeplechase. He took second out of 19 runners with a time of 9:52.59.
On the women's side Madison Schaefer (Portland, OR) took 33rd out of 61 800m runners. She ran a 2:27.49.
Kiera Beyer (Beaverton, OR) took 10th in the 10,000m. She finished her race in 40:11.50.
Redlands returns home for the two-day Redlands Invitational this Thursday-Friday, March 19-20 inside Ted Runner Stadium.
