U of R Women's Water Polo drops SCIAC contest to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's water polo team (4-17, 2-6) dropped their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) home game, 14-4, against No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Wednesday evening at the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC).

Trailing 5-0 in the final two minutes of the opening half Aubrey Stevenson let a shot go and beat the Athena keeper to the right post for the Bulldogs' first goal.

Facing a 7-1 deficit midway through the third quarter, Lucia Notaro went through the arms of the CMS keeper for her first of the game.

Later on Brooklyn Green swung a pass from the right side of the pool to the middle where she found Aubree Nabors who found the back of the net for a powerplay goal with 5:19 on the clock in the fourth.

Less than a minute later Teagan May assisted Katie Raber for Redlands' fourth score of the evening.

May finished with two points thanks to a pair of assists, she also took possession away twice. Kiera Federline drew an exclusion with Raber and Notaro drawing a pair each. Green won all four of her sprints and recorded two steals.

In goal Natalie Abril made the start and finished the first half with six saves and two steals. Sofia Mather came on to begin the third quarter and finished her evening with seven saves across the final 16 minutes.

Redlands begins a three-game road trip next Wednesday, April 1 when they travel to No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer at 7 p.m.
