WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Redlands track and field teams split their squad between the indoor Wartburg Qualifier and the outdoor Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Quad Cup No. 1 hosted by Occidental College on Friday and Saturday.
Wartburg Qualifier (Results)
Jude Holling (Sylmar, CA) took ninth in the 400m (53.12) and was eighth in the preliminary of the 60m hurdles (8.44) but did not start the final.
Christian Ferguson (San Diego, CA) continued his dominant performance in the weight throw as he re-broke his school record for the second time with a throw of 17.90m, 58' 8 ¾" finishing in fourth place.
Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) took third in the 200m (25.48), Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) was seventh in the preliminary of the 60m hurdles (9.20), and Mari Evonuk (Sherwood, OR) took fifth in the high jump (1.63m, 5' 4 ¼").
SCIAC Quad Cup No. 1 (Results)
With the majority of their athletes at the meet, the Bulldogs took third in both the men's and women's team standings with 105 and 118 points, respectively.
Men
Jaiden Coleman (Las Vegas, NV) totaled 26 points on the day thanks to wins and personal bests in the 100m (10.86) and 200m (21.65). He also took third in the long jump (6.59m, 21' 5 ½").
Matthew Farnsworth (Rancho Palos Verdes Estates, CA) added nine and a half points with a fifth-place finish and personal best time in the 800m (1:58.48). He added a personal best time and third place finish in the 1500m (4:01.07) as well. He along with Ben Goenen (Seattle, WA), Sam James (Sandia Park, NM), and Nikolas Sorich (San Jose, CA) took fourth in the 4x400 relay (3:28.50), which totaled six points as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) had two teams in the top four.
James also won the high jump (1.90m, 6' 2 ¾") and took fourth with a personal best time in the 110m Hurdles (15.87) as he totaled 15.5 points. Sorich also added a point for a sixth-place finish in the pole vault (3.05m, 10').
Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) won the 5000m (15:13.83), adding another 10 points to the Bulldogs' team total. Joseph O'Donnell (Fullerton, CA) took third for six points in the 3000m steeplechase (9:54.99). Cody Bain (Tustin, CA) finished second in the pole vault (4.10m, 13' 5 ¼"), which was good for eight points.
The other scoring athletes included Roman Juni (San Jose, CA) with eight points with a personal best in the triple jump (13.76m, 45' 1 ¾"), Cameron Kisob (Burbank, CA) with a point and a personal best in the triple jump (12.27m, 40' 3 ¼"), James Felio (San Jacinto, CA) took two points thanks to a personal best in the shot put (12.89m, 42' 3 ½"), Derek Delgado (Fullerton, CA) scored the final point in the shot with a personal best and sixth-place finish (12.53m, 41' 1 ½"), Odis Hamer (Victorville, CA) got 12 points after finishing third in the discus (41.24m, 135' 4") and a personal best in the hammer (39.25m, 128' 9"), and adding two more points from the throwing events was Ty Murga (Indio, CA) in the hammer (34.79m, 114' 2") and a personal best in the javelin (38.98m, 127' 11").
Women
Sabrina Tanouye (Elkhart, WI) was fantastic in the sprints, tallying five points after taking fifth in the 100m (12.87) and then third in both the 4x100 relay (49.31) and 4x400 relay (4:06.91).
The 4x100 relay team included Abi Ibarra (Littleton, CO), Aniya Jefferson (San Bernardino, CA), Faith Kasper (Menifee, CA), and Tanouye. The 4x400 relay team quartet included Ibarra, Kasper, Madison Schaefer (Portland, OR), and Tanouye.
Ibarra added 16 individual points from second place finishes in the 200m (26.05) and 400m (58.27). Her 400m time in the 10th-fastest in program history.
Kasper tallied seven points off a sixth-place 200m (27.32) finish and a third-place finish in the 400m (59.66). Jefferson had five points in the jumps with a sixth-place finish in the long jump (4.78m, 15' 8 ¼") and a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (9.87m, 32' 4 ¾").
Leilani Mayne (Calexico, CA) collected 12 points for the Bulldogs after a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles (16.09) and a four-place finish in the 400m hurdles (1:14.60).
In the jumps and hurdles Madison Eaton (Rocklin, CA) won the high jump (1.55m, 5' 1") and took fifth in the 100m hurdles (17.40) for 12 total points. Shaylee Heron (Payson, AZ) also had a strong jumping and hurdling day, adding three points from the 100m Hurdles (17.96) and 400m Hurdles (1:15.67) and another six points from the triple jump (9.92m, 32' 5 ½").
The other scoring athletes who tallied double digit points included Sophia Gerken (Peoria, AZ) who had 10 points from the throws, tallying points in the discus (37.28m, 122' 4") and a personal best in the hammer (35.83m, 117' 7") and Sophia Knowles (Alta Loma, CA) who had 16 points in the jumps thanks to a pair of personal bests from the long jump (5.11m, 16' 9 ¼") and a win in the triple jump (10.90m, 35' 9 ¼").
Another seven Bulldogs contributed to Redlands' point total: Ellie Mann (Portland, OR) with three from the shot put (10.19m, 33' 5 ¼") and the discus (31.93m, 104' 9"), Mia Navares (Chino, CA) with one from the 400m hurdles (1:19.12), Eve Mavy (Thayne, WY) with four from the 3000m steeplechase (12:36.47), Isabella Anderson (Severn, MD) with two in the 3000m steeplechase (13:37.47), Ashlynn Alderman (Richland, WA) with one in the pole vault (2.35m, 7' 8 ½"), Kiera Lambert (La Mirada, CA) with two in the triple jump (9.71m, 31' 10 ¼"), and Keegan Sherry (Edmonds, WA) with four in the javelin (35.01m, 114' 10").
No Bulldogs ranked inside the Top 20 of their indoor events, so none qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships which means the next competition will be the Oxy Distance Carnival on March 14.
