LA VERNE, Calif. – Christian Ferguson (San Diego, CA) broke a 39-year-old program record in the hammer at the University of La Verne Leopard Invitational Thursday while at the Bryan Clay Invitational Jude Holling (Sylmar, CA) broke the 38-year-old school record in the 400m hurdles and Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) reset his 10,000m school record.
Men
Ferguson threw 54.76m, 179' 8" on his fourth attempt which helped him take fourth place. As the new record holder, he is still the only thrower inside the Top-10, and one of only two along with Richard Valenti, to sit inside the Top-10 from 2010-present. The previous record holder was Barry Pittman from 1987.
Hollings time in the 400m Hurdles ran a 52.75, 0.21 seconds faster than Robert Walker's time in 1988. He finished 13th in the race.
Asper took seventh in the 10,000m with a 30:38.90. He was outpaced by only two Division I athletes, two Division II athletes, a professional, and a junior college runner who ran the second fastest time in the country at that level.
Another Bulldog posting a Top-10 mark was David Huggins (Salem, OR) in the 5000m (14:53.15) as he advanced up a few spots into fourth place all time. In the race he took 15th.
Also making it into the Top-10 was Jaiden Coleman (Las Vegas, NV) who ran a 21.48 in the 200m, finishing 18th, which is the sixth fastest all time.
Women
For the Bulldog women Kiera Beyer (Beaverton, OR) reset her sixth fastest time in program history in the 10,000m running a 39:12.76, finishing in eighth place in the race.
Adding another thrower inside the top 10 is Keegan Sherry who threw 35.43m, 116' 3" in the javelin, the joint 10th best mark along with our current head women's lacrosse coach Sean Hansen from 2007. Her mark came on her second attempt and helped her take second place.
The 4x400 relay team of Faith Kasper (Menifee, CA), Madison Schaefer (Portland, OR), Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA), and Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) took 18th but ran a 3:54.72, the fifth fastest time in program history.
