REDLANDS, Calif. – On Saturday afternoon, the University of Redlands Women's Tennis team took on Chapman University in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual, taking down the Panthers 6-1 inside the Verdieck Tennis Center. This puts the team at 11-8, 4-2 SCIAC.

At the conclusion of the match, which was the final one for 2026, Head Coach Mike Longanecker and the Bulldogs celebrated their lone senior, Eve Laurent (Portland, OR).

The women continued their dominance in doubles, earning the early doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Maegan Deng (Torrance, CA) and Lindsey Whelan (Mercer Island, WA) added another win to their overall record winning, 6-3.  Next to them, Sophia Truong (Arleta, CA) and Vrishitha Kumar (Mumbai, India) had a convincing win as well 6-2.  At No. 3 Maisy Reynoso (El Paso, TX) and Jasmine Sheets (Hesperia, CA) would run into a tough match-up falling in a tight 6-3 set.

Moving into singles, Deng put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard first with yet another impressive win, this time a double bagel 6-0, 6-0 clocking in well under an hour.  Whelan at No. 2 also breezed through her match with one bagel, finishing 6-0, 6-4. Reynoso got the clinch of the day for the Bulldogs at No. 3 going 6-2, 6-3.  Next to her, at No.4 was Kumar who pulled through her match as well in straight sets 7-5,6-1.

A sweet victory entailed for senior, Laurent, at the sixth spot. She split sets with her opponent falling quickly 6-0 in the first set, before storming back to take the second, 6-4.  She kept that momentum grinding out a 10-4 win in the third-set super tiebreaker.

The Panthers lone point of the day came at the fifth spot in a highly contested three-set match.  Truong lost the first set 6-3, but came back to dominate in the second set 6-2. This momentum wouldn't hold however as she would drop 10-6 in the third set tiebreak.

Redlands hits the road for their final match of 2026 next Saturday, April 25 when they take on California Lutheran University beginning at 4:00pm.
