AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Redlands track and field program saw three athletes set or rebreak program records with Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) breaking the 5000m record and Jude Holling (Sylmar, CA) and Christian Ferguson (San Diego, CA) resetting the 400m Hurdles and Hammer records at the Azusa Pacific University (APU) Franson Final Qualifier over the weekend.
Men
Asper finished 13th with a 14:22.17 in the 5000m. His time breaks Don Isaak's time of 14:30.87 from 1973. Asper, along with teammate David Huggins (Salem, OR), are now the only athletes from the 21st century in the Top-4.
Holling reset his 400m Hurdle time (52.59) with a seventh-place finish. His time is now 12th in the country. Athletes need to be inside the Top-22 for individual events to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Holling also combined with Matthew Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA), Patrick Lang II (San Antonio, TX), and Jaiden Coleman (Las Vegas, NV) for a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:28.52).
Joining Holling with an improvement on his school record was Ferguson who threw 55.18m, 181' in the Hammer winning the event.
The fourth Top-10 time/mark came from Nate Reinhard (Meadow Vista, CA) who won the Pole Vault with a 4.70m, 15' 5" clearance on his third height. His mark is tied for seventh in program history.
Women
Four Top-10 finishes were posted on the women's side. Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) ran 12.25 in the 100m preliminaries and took 10th. She was the second leg of the 4x100 relay team that featured Sabrina Tanouye (Elkhart Lake, WI), Semmere, Aniah Perry, and Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA). They ran 48.56 and took eighth.
