REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands track and field programs received school records from Christian Ferguson (San Diego, CA), Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA), and Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) at the Redlands Final Qualifier along with another five Top-10 times and marks to end the regular season.
The other top 10 times came from Jaiden Coleman (Las Vegas, NV) in the 200m (21.19), Nate Reinhard (Meadow Vista, CA) in the pole vault (4.81m, 15' 9 ¼"), Shaylee Heron (Payson, AZ) in the heptathlon (4,038 points), and a pair from Eichinger during her heptathlon.
Coleman took fifth in the 200m with the new third-fastest time in program history.
Reinhard took fourth with a second attempt clearance at his third height, which moved him into fourth place in program history.
Heron was the heptathlon runner up. She finished inside the Top-3 in all the events with personal bests in the 200m (27.59), high jump (1.51m, 4' 11 ½"), and 100m hurdles (15.49).
Ferguson continued his dominance of the hammer with a 56.17m, 184' 3" throw on his fourth attemp, which improved upon his school record, which he has set multiple times this season.
Semmere took third in the 200m with the new school record of 24.15. Her time is a 0.04 second improvement on Andrea Lyon's record at the final qualifier in 2022. Her time moved her all the way up to No. 10 in the country, qualifying her for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this month.
Eichinger won the heptathlon with a total of 4,876 points, a new program record. She passes Alison Smith who had 4,799 at the Jim Click Shootout in 2017. During her heptathlon she ran 14.38 in the 100m hurdles, which improved her previous sixth-fastest time from last spring. She also threw 36.44m, 119' 7" in the javelin, the 10th-best mark in program history. She was already in qualifying position in the heptathlon, but she moved herself into the No. 6 position in the country for nationals.
Along with Semmere and Eichinger, Jude Holling (Sylmar, CA) will qualify in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.59, which came at the Azusa Pacific University Franson Final Qualifier a week ago. Coleman's 10.44 in the 100m is 23rd (Need's to be inside the Top-22), so he has a chance if someone is unavailable. Mari Evonuk (Sherwood, OR) is also 23rd in the high jump (1.67m).
Official announcement of the qualifiers will come Friday, May 15, with information regarding the championships being posted on the track and field schedule once available.
