LA VERNE, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's soccer team (2-5-0, 1-1 SCIAC) maintained their strong offensive play from the weekend during the first half Wednesday at the University of La Verne (ULV) as Taylor Tidquist (Snoqualmie, WA) scored her second in as many games, before the Bulldogs conceded twice in the second half, falling 2-1.
Claire August (Mountlake Terrace, WA) had two shots saved in the first 23 minutes with Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA) adding a shot on-goal too, but all three were handled by the Leopard keeper.
Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) had her first stop come in the 30th minute before Averie Stunz (Stanwood, WA) came back down the other way and hit the frame of the goal.
Following a shot off the frame by ULV in the 39th minute, Riley Gutierrez (San Bernardino, CA) found Tidquist in the 42nd to make it 1-0 Bulldogs. Gutierrez sent a long ball down the left flank finding Tidquist making a run with the defender in a trailing position. Tidquist did not take a touch and instead easily passed it in with her left foot underneath the diving goalkeeper for the opening tally.
Immoos made sure the lead was maintained as she made two saves in the final four minutes to help the Bulldogs take a 1-0 halftime lead.
In the second half Redlands failed to record any shots, while Immoos made saves in the 56th and 63rd minutes. The Leopards, though, found a way past her in the 69th and 73rd minutes as they took a 2-1 lead, which they would hold for the final 17 minutes.
The Bulldogs were on fire in the first 45 minutes, holding a 9-5 shot advantage, and a 4-3 shots on-goal lead with two of those three shots on-goal by ULV coming in the final minutes. In the second half, however, the Leopards outshot the Bulldogs 13-0, were 5-0 on shots on target, and 11-0 on corner kicks.
Redlands returns to the pitch this Saturday, September 26 when they welcome in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to Farquhar Field beginning at 5:00 p.m.
