THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's soccer team (2-7, 1-3 SCIAC) fell 4-1 Wednesday evening at California Lutheran University (CLU) as Claire August (Mountlake Terrace, WA) converted the first penalty of the season for the Bulldogs.
Redlands faced a 3-0 deficit in the first nine minutes. Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) then made four saves the rest of the way to keep the Regals from adding on. Taylor Tidquist (Snoqualmie, WA) had an attempt find goal in the 36th but it would be stopped for the Bulldogs' only look on target in the first 45.
Immoos would make three saves in the first five minutes of the second half, but she was unable to make it four as CLU slotted home their fourth goal of the night in the 51st minute.
In the 72nd minute, Redlands got on the scoreboard when a cross was sent into the box where August got the first touch to it, while being fouled trying to get a second. She then took the penalty, which she finished to the top right corner with her left foot, freezing the keeper and making it 4-1.
Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA) forced a save in the 88th minute but that was the only attempt by either side that was on target the rest of the game after August's penalty.
Immoos finished with nine saves between the posts and August's goal was the first of the season for her.
Redlands remains on the road for a matchup with Occidental College this Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 a.m. as they look for their first road Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) win of the season.
