SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – After canceling the annual Redlands Invitational, the University of Redlands cross country teams made the short trip north to California State University, San Bernardino for the Coyote Challenge Saturday where the men took seventh and the women ninth.
Men
The Bulldog men finished seventh, ahead of fellow Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponents California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the University of La Verne (ULV).
Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) began his season with a fourth-place finish, coming across the line in 24:57.7. Two of the three runners ahead of him were an unattached runner and an athlete from Division II Cal Poly Pomona.
Max Schaller (San Diego, CA) took 34th with a 26:17.1, while Matthew Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) joined him inside the Top 50 in 41st place with a 26:30.2.

Women
The Bulldog women finished ninth as a team, also ahead of Caltech and ULV. Out of the eight teams ahead of them from Division III was Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Kiera Beyer (Beaverton, OR) led the charge in 47th place with a 22:35.8. Her time improves upon her 16th place standing all-time as she moves into 10th place. Her record time is the first new time since 2024 when there were four new times added to the Top-20 list. Even more impressive is that the Bulldogs usually run a 4.5K to begin the season and this race is a 6K.
Behind her in 89th place was Chelsea Jauregui (Bakersfield, CA) with a 23:42.9. Just outside the Top-100 was Madison Schaefer (Portland, OR) in 102nd (24:12.8) and Brooke Lorz (Apple Valley, CA) in 106th (24:21.2).
Redlands has next Saturday off before traveling south to Riverside for the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, September 19.
