CLAREMONT, Calif. – Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) was called into action 20 times Sunday morning, making 15 saves, but it was not enough as the University of Redlands women's soccer team (1-2) fell 5-0 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) in a non-conference game.
In the first 14 minutes of the game the Athenas put six shots on goal, all of which Immoos saved to keep the game scoreless.
After another Immoos save and two more shots that were off target, CMS was able to find the back of the net in the 22nd minute to take the 1-0 lead.
The first save forced by Redlands came from Mikaela Foster (Temecula, CA) in the 27th minute.
All in all, the Bulldogs allowed two goals, but nine Immoos saves still had Redlands within striking distance at the half.
Following a pair of Athena goals in first eight minutes of the second half, Averie Stunz (Stanwood, WA) had the Bulldogs' first shot on target of the second half in the 72nd minute, but it would be handled by the Athena keeper to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
Overall for the game, Immoos saw 37 shots come her way with 20 of those being goal scoring threats. The Bulldogs' five shots came from five different players.
Redlands returns to Farquhar Field this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. when the Bulldogs host the Banana Slugs of University of California, Santa Cruz.
