Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges won round one of the matchup
between the conference titans, edging the University of Redlands
women's soccer team by a 1-0 final on Oct. 8 in
Claremont.
Redlands, which held the shot advantage (20-18), surrendered its
only goal off of a ball that bounced off of a Bulldog defender in
the opening minutes of the second half. The Athenas' Laura
Hagen received credit for the goal while Ashley Green earned the
assist.
Both goalkeepers were peppered with shots all evening. Junior
goalkeeper Tenley Rawlings (Salt Lake City, UT) saved nine shots
and allowed just one goal while Camila Friedman-Gerlicz stopped all
12 shots that she faced on goal.
The two teams meet up again on Nov. 1 at Farquhar Field for
Redlands' senior night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs (7-3-1, 4-2 SCIAC) take to the road this Saturday,
Oct. 11, for an 11 a.m. tilt against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
