The No. 14 University of Redlands women's tennis team
battled it out with No. 6 Amherst College (MA) on Thursday but came
up short against the Lord Jeffs by a score of 2-7.
The Bulldogs captured two of the three doubles matches with wins
at No. 2 and No. 3. Senior Kaleena Wakamatsu (Maui, HI) and
sophomore Sara Yoshinaga (Honolulu, HI) initiated the scoring with
an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 slot. Junior Rachael Miller (Newport
Beach, CA) and senior Tori Damiani (Sacramento, CA) rallied to earn
a 9-7 win at No. 3.
Despite the momentum and the lead, Redlands struggled in singles
and lost three tight matches in three sets at No. 1, No. 2, and No.
3.
The Bulldogs (8-3) welcome No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus College (MN)
to Verdieck Courts on March 24 at 3 p.m.
