Box Score The University of Redlands women's soccer team lost to
Chapman University, 0-1, in Redlands on Thursday.
Despite doubling the Panthers' total in shots, 26-13, the
Bulldogs could not convert on their scoring chances, and the
Panthers eked the difference-maker past senior goalkeeper Tenley
Rawlings (Salt Lake City, UT) late in the second half.
Redlands came out firing, uncorking five shots in the first 15
minutes of action. Chapman's Kate Lilly got a good look at
the 35-minute mark, but Rawlings halted the shot before it crossed
the goal line.
The Maroon and Gray entered halftime with a lopsided advantage in
shots, 16-4, and had also directed the pace of play the entirety of
the opening 45 minutes.
Chapman leveled the playing field in the second half, capitalizing
on one of the few offensive opportunities they received. Megan
Tharp found the feet of Stephanie Lambrakis, who knocked a ball
past Rawlings for the match's lone goal in the 75th
minute.
No Bulldog player received a quality shot opportunity from that
point on, and the Panthers hung on for the improbable win.
Junior midfielder Jessi Hoyt (Boise, ID) paced both teams in shots,
notching six total and three on target.
Rawlings posted four saves in goal for the Maroon and Gray while
Chloe Canta earned the shutout with seven stops for Chapman.
Redlands (0-3) seeks its first victory of the young season when it
hosts Willamette University (OR) on Saturday at 12 noon.
