The University of Redlands women's soccer team lost to the
tied-for-first-place Regals of Cal Lutheran University by a score
of 0-3 in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SCIAC) match on Saturday afternoon in Thousand Oaks.
Cal Lutheran pressured Redlands early as junior midfielder
Kaitlin Walter (Moorpark, CA) scored off of a corner kick within
the first two minutes of play.
The Regals successfully converted two more opportunities prior
to the final whistle, with Walters posting an assist on freshman
midfielder Jess Armstrong's (San Diego, CA) goal at the 49th
minute, and junior forward Aubrie Smith (Santa Clarita, CA)
finalizing Cal Lutheran's victory with less than five minutes
remaining in the contest.
Redlands mustered only nine shots to Cal Lutheran's 16 attempts.
The Regals edged out the Bulldogs on corner kicks as well with a
7-3 advantage.
Currently sitting in fourth place among the SCIAC teams, the
Bulldogs (7-8-0, 5-5-0 SCIAC) look to make a final push this week
as they travel to Occidental College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m.
showdown with the Tigers and then cap off the regular season at
Farquhar Field with Senior Night at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
