Box Score The fourth-seeded University of Redlands women's soccer team continued its hot streak of late by upsetting the second-seeded Occidental College Tigers in tonight's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament final in Eagle Rock. The teams battled it out to a scoreless tie in regulation and endured the first overtime period before the Bulldogs nabbed the win in the 106th minute.
Junior midfielder Fionna Connolly (Salem, OR) stepped up with her ninth goal of the season as she connected off of a quick pass from junior midfielder Jaimie Morton (Boise, ID), who redirected a long throw-in from senior defender Breann Puchalski (Redlands, CA).
Redlands held a 21-14 shot advantage, with 10 of its attempts coming on-goal. Suitably, Connolly led the charge with five scoring chances, while Morton tallied four. The Bulldogs also posted nine corner kick opportunities, compared to the Tigers' three.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Foreman (San Jose, CA) notched her second career postseason victory with eight saves during 105:13 of action.
With the SCIAC Postseason Tournament title in hand, Redlands gains the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships and looks forward to the official announcement on Monday morning on NCAA.com.
