No. 20 Redlands Women's Tennis Falls to No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer, Settles for Second Place

The No. 20 University of Redlands women's tennis team settled for second place in the 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament after losing to No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the championship match. The Bulldogs suffered a 2-7 loss to the Sagehens in their final dual match of the regular season.

Redlands gained only one of the doubles points with an 8-5 victory by the No. 2 duo of juniors Rachael Miller (Newport Beach, CA) and Sara Yoshinaga (Honolulu, HI).

Down 1-2, the Bulldogs needed four of the six singles matches to pull out the upset. Unfortunately, the Maroon and Gray mustered only one victory as sophomore Nicole Gerentine (Austin, TX) rallied for a come-from-behind, 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Redlands (12-9, 8-2 SCIAC) looks forward to competing in the 110th Annual Ojai Tennis Tournament on Thursday, April 22, through Sunday, April 25. The Bulldogs must wait until the week of May 10 for the NCAA's announcement regarding any postseason opportunities.
