Bulldog Women's Soccer Scores Win in SCIAC Opener

Box Score

The Maroon and Gray kicked off Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play on a strong note, defeating the Leopards of the University of La Verne in a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday evening at Farquhar Field.

Redlands attacked first at 25:37 when junior defender Emily van den Bosch (Arcadia, CA) struck a long through-ball and sophomore midfielder Meghan King (Portland, OR) found the far post to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Early in the second half, junior midfielder Fionna Connolly (Salem, OR) kept the pressure on the Leopards as she posted her fourth netter of the season with a deflected shot. Junior forward  Maddy Phillips (Seattle, WA)picked up the assist on the play.

Minutes later, the Bulldogs capitalized Phillips awareness and slotted the ball near post off of a van den Bosch strike.

The Maroon and Gray closed out the match as freshman defender Kinslee Isaman (Lake Stevens, WA) notched her first collegiate score on a quick strike from the right side of the box.

Sophomore goalkeeper Linzey Smith (Anaheim Hills, CA) recorded her second consecutive shut-out win, tallying three saves in the process.

Redlands returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a SCIAC showdown against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at Farquhar field.
