Box Score On Saturday afternoon, the University of Redlands women's soccer
team kept up its recent hot streak by defeating Pomona-Pitzer
Colleges by a solid score of 3-0.
Senior forward Maddy Phillips
(Seattle, WA) initiated the Bulldogs' scoring when she ripped
her second netter of the season, coming off of senior forward
Leslie
Horner's (Portland, OR) controlled pass at the 19-minute
mark.
Redlands continued to pressure the Sagehen defense with a total
of six shots in the first frame.
In the early moments of the second half, Horner dished out her
second assist of the game when she strategically placed a soft
floater to junior forward Fionna Connolly
(Salem, OR), who found the back of the net for her team-leading
fifth goal on the year.
With a nice one-timer from the top of the box, sophomore
midfielder Kendall Pegan
(Lafayette, CA) registered her first score of the year matching her
season high from the 2009 campaign to give Redlands the hat
trick.
Despite Pomona-Pitzer's final offensive efforts, the Bulldogs
captured their second conference win of the season and their third
victory in a row.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Foreman
(San Jose, CA) notched her second shutout win of the season while
picking up five saves in the match.
The Bulldogs head to Chapman University on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
for a non-conference showdown with the Panthers.
