Box Score In a hard-fought Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC) match, the University of Redlands women's soccer
team came up just short against Cal Lutheran University on
Wednesday evening at Farquhar Field, losing by a score of 0-1.
Cal Lutheran (8-0-1, 3-0-1 SCIAC) pressured the pink-clad
Bulldogs early and often, posting 26 total shots on the night,
which was highlighted by four Regals with four or more strikes.
Redlands tallied just nine shots with only two on goal.
After a scoreless first half, the Regals netted the game's only
goal at the 54-minute mark as sophomore midfielder Mayra Virgen
(Port Hueneme, CA) scored for the third time on the year.
Bulldog sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Foreman (San Jose, CA)
endured a busy night between the pipes, accumulating eight saves
over 90 minutes.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Night, the Maroon and Gray
sold raffle tickets as a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen
Foundation with the lucky winners taking home a signed team jersey
and a breast cancer charm bracelet.
In addition, the team hosted a 7-v-7 mini game during halftime
that featured the AYSO Under-14 Vans Sneakers Girls' Soccer
Team.
The Bulldogs (4-5-0, 2-2-0 SCIAC) welcome Occidental College to
Farquhar Field on Saturday at 11 a.m. for an important conference
showdown.
