After honoring seniors Rachael Miller (Newport Beach, CA) and Sara Yoshinaga (Honolulu, HI) prior to Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) women's tennis match, the No. 28 University of Redlands struggled to send them off with a celebratory win and fell to the Athenas by a score of 3-6.
Redlands faced an uphill battle from the opening match, which led to a three-point deficit after doubles.
The Bulldogs rallied for a trio of three-set victories but it was not enough to overcome CMS.
With the team score already decided, Redlands gained a 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 victory from Yoshinaga. Freshman Paige Press (La Jolla, CA) also found a way to win with her 2-6,6-1,10-4 showing at No. 5, before freshman Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) came up with a 6-3, 3-6,10-8 showing at the No. 2 slot.
Redlands (9-7, 4-2 SCIAC) takes to the road for the final conference dual match of the season on Saturday, April 16. The Bulldogs face off against the Poets of Whittier College at 10 a.m.
