Box Score The University of Redlands women's soccer program stumbled to the Tigers of Occidental College on Saturday at Farquhar Field by a score of 0-2. The Bulldogs struggled to recover from an early deficit, leading to the difficult loss in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action.
Oxy (2-4-0, 2-1-0 SCIAC) offensively took control in the early goings, eventually recording a 7-3 shot advantage in the first frame. The Tigers found the back of the net off of sophomore Elissa Minamishin's (Waipahu, HI) foot at the 30:47-mark. She went on to ice the game with her second score of the night in the 67th minute.
Despite its slow start, Redlands made a late offensive push by recording four shots in the final 12 minutes.
The Bulldogs (3-3-1, 1-3-0 SCIAC) look forward to hosting non-conference foe Chapman University, which faced Redlands in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Championships, on Wed., Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. at Farquhar Field.
