After capturing the program's first-ever win over rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on February 18, the University of Redlands women's lacrosse team repeated that effort during Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match-up against the Athenas. The Bulldogs erupted for a 9-1 run in the second half to solidify their 13th win in as many contests, recording an impressive 16-4 triumph at Farquhar Field.

Although CMS struck first less than three minutes into the game, Redlands quickly responded with three consecutive goals, resulting in a lead that it would not relinquish. This trio of Bulldog netters all came off of connecting passes, accounting for half of the team's assists of the night. Sophomore midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) and senior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) both contributed a goal and an assist in this span.

The Athenas rallied to make it a one-goal game when junior midfielder Madi Shove (Portola Valley, CA) scored her second of four goals on the night.

But the Maroon and Gray eventually fired off eight straight netters, creating a 10-goal differential with 14:43 left in the game. Highlighting this effort, McCaslin and Prickett both stepped up with their team-leading third and fourth goals of the game.

During the second half, Redlands converted five of its six free-position shots, which included successful attempts by Prickett, senior attack player Blair Callaghan (Tacoma, WA), junior attack player Crystal Painter (Lake George, NY), sophomore attack player Allie Hoffler (Salt Lake City, UT), and senior defender Anna Timberlake (Seattle, WA).

Junior midfielder Katie Colasurdo (Eugene, OR) led all players with five ground balls while sophomore midfielder Jacky Craycraft (Trabuco Canyon, CA) nabbed a game-high six draw controls. As a team, the Bulldogs prevailed over the Athenas in these two categories, recording 21 ground balls and collecting 14 draw controls. In addition, the Maroon and Gray bested the opponents in caused turnovers with eight, which included two each from senior goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA), senior defender Rachel Haag (Newtown, PA) and Colasurdo.

Martinez also provided stellar play between the pipes, registering seven saves in her 13th win of the season.

With tonight's triumph, Redlands (13-0, 7-0 SCIAC) secures the top seed in the SCIAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which takes place at Occidental College on April 28-29. The Bulldogs look forward to hosting Whittier College on Sunday, April 22, for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
