Sporting an improved ranking of No. 22 in the country, the University of Redlands women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over the visiting Poets of Whittier College during Senior Day at Verdieck Courts. While capturing their sixth consecutive win of the season, the Bulldogs preserve their undefeated record in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition with two dual matches remaining.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs swept the doubles with freshman Maddie Morton (Henderson, NV) and sophomore Paige Press (La Jolla, CA) setting the tone with their 8-3 showing at the No. 3 spot. The No. 1 tandem of sophomore Jessica Ly (Torrance, CA) and junior Shannon Cassidy (Yuba City, CA) prevailed by a score of 8-6 before the No. 2 duo of freshmen Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) and Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) took down their counterparts, 8-6.

In singles, Redlands secured five of the six matches, all of which came in straight sets.

Pollak recorded the team's fourth point with her 6-0, 6-2 performance at the No. 6 slot, while Press clinched the match victory by dismissing her No. 4 opponent, 6-3, 6-1.

The momentum stayed with the Maroon and Gray, as Ly and Sumida both notched wins before the Poets nabbed their sole point of the match. Ly put together a 6-3, 6-3 triumph and Sumida came out on top by scores of 6-3, 6-2.

Cassidy also recorded a solid victory, downing her No. 5 foe, 6-4, 6-3.

Prior to the match, the Bulldogs honored their lone senior, Katherine Guimapang (Norwalk, CA), for her dedication and contributions throughout her career.

Redlands (12-4, 5-0 SCIAC) travels to No. 15 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Sunday, April 22, for a 12 noon match with the Sagehens.
