No. 22 UR Women's Tennis Falls to No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in SCIAC Action

The No. 22 University of Redlands women's tennis team faced ninth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Monday in a make-up match from April 13.  The Bulldogs gave it their all but came up short of the upset in a 2-7 decision during their final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual match of the season.

However, the Maroon and Gray gained two significant bright spots in the effort.  Freshman Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) notched her 14th consecutive singles win by taking down her No. 6 counterpart by scores of 6-3, 6-2.  She is now 15-1 in her rookie season with the Bulldogs.

In addition, junior Shannon Cassidy (Yuba City, CA) came up with a 7-6(3), 6-4 triumph at No. 5, improving to 13-3 in singles in her first season at Redlands.

The Bulldogs (12-6, 5-2 SCIAC) head to the Ojai Tournament on Thursday, taking on regional foes in individual singles and doubles competition.
