The No. 18 University of Redlands women's tennis team hosted the fifth-ranked Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday afternoon for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match on Verdieck Courts. Despite putting up a quality effort, the Bulldogs suffered shutout loss.
The No. 2 tandem of senior Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) and junior Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) mustered the Bulldogs' best showing in doubles, falling 8-4.
In singles, junior Natatlie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) competed at a high level against her counterpart but suffered a 7-5, 6-2 defeat.
Redlands (10-6, 3-2 SCIAC) looks to immediately bounce back on Saturday, April 4, when it hosts the No. 26 Leopards of the University of La Verne on Senior Day. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. on Verdieck Courts.
