The No. 20 University of Redlands women's tennis team squared off against the No. 2 Bowdoin College (ME) Polar Bears on Verdieck Courts in a non-conference showdown on Tuesday afternoon.  The Bulldogs showed a lot of grit with competitive scores but were unable to pull out the upset and lost, 0-9.

The No. 1 doubles duo of seniors Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) and Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) put up the tightest score in an 8-5 loss.

In singles, Villanueva pushed her No. 3 opponent to three sets by winning the second, 6-3, but she came up short in the 2-6, 6-3, 2-6 showing.

Redlands (8-5) continues its full slate of non-conference foes with No. 38 Oberlin College (OH) on Wednesday, March 23, at 3 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
