REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Swimming and Diving teams opened their 2024-25 season at home inside the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC) Saturday morning where they hosted the annual Bulldog Pentathlon.
On the men's side Ethan Chir (Las Vegas, NV) led the way as he took second place in the 100 Back with a time of 54.18, he won the 100 Breast in 59.62, placed sixth in the 100 Fly with a time of 53.35, and in the 100 IM he was the runner-up with a personal best of 53.81.
Another notable performer was freshman Garrett Krattiger (Helena, MT) who took sixth place as the second-highest finshing Bulldog in the 100 Free (49.46), he won the 100 Back in 52.98, took fifth in the 100 Fly in a personal best time of 53.25, and wrapped up his first collegiate meet in the 100 IM finishing fourth in 55.12.
Memphis Gile (Redlands, CA) also put in a strong day with a third place finish in the 100 Free (47.94) and posted another third place finish in the 100 Back (55.03).
On the women's side the Bulldogs faced off against a tough field including Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rivals Chapman University, Occidental College, and Whittier College. Chapman and Occidental took third and fourth place at the SCIAC Championships this past spring.
Redlands had top-eight finishes from Kileigh Ackerman (Evergreen, CO) and Lina Matera (Hingham, WA) in the 100 Back with Ackerman finishing fifth in 1:03.20 and Matera in eighth at 1:03.81.
Redlands will return to the pool on Saturday, November 2 at 10:30 a.m. when they travel to faceoff with the University of La Verne in their first SCIAC dual meet.
