CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams competed in their first outdoor meet of the season coming at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet on Saturday. The Bulldogs finished with eight within the Top-3 and another 30 within the Top-8.
On the men's side Owen Schmitz (Fremont, CA) won the high jump with a mark of 1.95m/6' 4.75", which he cleared on his first attempt at that height after clearing three previous heights.
On the women's side First-Year Faith Kasper (Menifee, CA) was third in the 200M with a time of 26.59 in her first collegiate outdoor meet.
In the Pole Vault Lily James (Ojai, CA) finished third at 2.80m/9' 2.25", which came on her third attempt at her third height. This was her second meet of 2024, but her first clearing at this height.
In the Long Jump Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) had a season-best mark of 5.35m/17' 6.75" on her third attempt. Her previous best was 5.22m/17' 1.5" in Washington last weekend.
Christen Wiley (South San Francisco, CA) continued with her jumping success as she was the runner-up in the Triple Jump with a first jump of 10.54m/34' 7". It is an improvement over her 4.88m/16' 0.25" mark two weeks ago indoors in Arizona.
Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) won the Discus throwing a 39.59m/129' 11" on her fourth and final throw. This would be her fourth best mark in all of 2023 and was her first meet in nine months.
Two spots behind Chavez was Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) who ended her day with a fourth throw of 37.00m/121' 5". Despite competing indoors already, this was her first chance in the discus.
Rounding out the thrower's successful day was Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) who took second in the Hammer as her first attempt of 41.05m/134' 8" was good enough to hold off the rest of the competition.
Redlands will send some athletes to Wisconsin for the Ripon Final Qualifier & Multi on March 1-2, while the rest of the team will compete in the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) meet of the season during SCIAC No. 1 hosted by Caltech on March 2 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
