RIPON, Wis. – The University of Redlands sent four athletes to the Ripon NCAA Final Qualifier and Multi in Wisconsin and Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) and Corte Peterson (Lafayette, CO) would take home victories in the Pentathlon and Heptathlon.
Bachmeier took the Pentathlon on Friday with a final score of 3,363, a new personal best. She was the runner-up in the 60m Hurdles in 9.26. Then in the High Jump she posted a personal best of 1.56m, 5' 1.25" as she took the event win. In the Shot Put she was again the runner-up following a throw of 9.18m, 30' 1.5" on her third attempt. In the Long Jump and 800m she took second and first with a personal best mark of 5.28m, 17' 4" on her first attempt before winning the 800m in 2:29.07.
Her score currently ranks 13th in Division III and the Top-20 athletes will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia this Friday-Saturday, March 8-9.
Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) took fourth in the Pentathlon with a personal best score of 2,795. She set new personal best marks in the 60m Hurdles (9.81), High Jump (1.38m, 4' 6.25"), Shot Put (8.96m, 29' 4.7"), and 800m (2:40.80).
Peterson finished and won the Heptathlon on Saturday with a personal best score of 4,465. He won his specialty the Pole Vault and took three other events wins. He also posted three new personal bests in the Long Jump (6.32m, 20' 9"), High Jump (1.73m, 5' 8"), and 60m Hurdles (9.39).
In third was Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) with 3,682 points. He lost a lot of points by not recording a height in his specialty the High Jump. He did win the 60m Hurdles in a new personal best time of 8.77.
