Bulldog Women's Track and Field Crowned 2024 SCIAC Champions

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Track and Field team was crowned the 2024 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Track & Field Champions Sunday edging Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by three points collecting their first full team title since 2010 (2021 Championship only included four programs).

The Bulldogs leaned heavily on their throwing and jumping teams who scored 66 and 48 points, respectively. Hurdles added 25 points, sprints and relays had 14, multi's totaled 11, and distance with seven.

Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) started the Bulldogs off on the right foot as she won the Heptathlon securing10 points, which at the time, put Redlands in the team lead. She scored 4441 points, a new personal best, moving her to No. 15 in the country.  The Top-22 qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships, though, there are still a few weeks to qualify. She also moves to No. 6 all-time in the University of Redlands record books.  

Eichinger started the morning with a win in the Long Jump (5.21m, Personal Best) and the Javelin (30.67m). She then ended the competition with a second place finish in the 800m (2:32.02, Personal Best).

Gift James took eighth with 2988 points and added an additional point to the team total. She moved up from 10th after day one in the overall standings. She took fifth in the Long Jump (4.57m, Personal Best) and after taking ninth in the Javelin (14.61m) she was third in the 800m (2:38.50).

In the 4x100 relay Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA), Faith Kasper (Menifee, CA), Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA), and Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) combined to run a 47.87, a season best and the No. 7 time all-time, as they were the runners-up behind Chapman University.

The 4x400 relay team of Eichinger, Kasper, Semmere, and Bachmeier took third and ran a 3:58.26, a new season best. It also moves this quartet from ninth to seventh all-time.

Adams came in sixth in the 100m as she finished in 12.67 and added three points to the Bulldogs' total.

Semmere took sixth in the 200m after finishing in 25.86.

Bachmeier won the 100m Hurdles in 14.26 as she improved her No. 5 all-time ranking placing her 14th in the country depending on other results. Eichinger took fourth in 15.24, a personal best for the second-straight day.

Bachmeier won the 400m Hurdles with a personal best time of 1:02.36. It is also the second fastest time in program history and the eighth fastest in the country.

Semmere and Kasper took fourth and sixth in the 400m as they ran 57.95 and 58.34, respectively. Kasper's time was a personal best.

In the 800m CeCe Matteson (Seattle, WA) got a point after finishing in 2:31.54.

Adams won the Triple Jump in 11.86m (38' 11") on her fifth attempt. It's a personal best, improves her second best mark all-time in program history, and the 20th best in the country.

Bachmeier took sixth place with a 10.95m (35' 11") jump on her fifth attempt as well. She now sits 10th in program history.

Madison Eaton (Rocklin, CA) was the runner-up in the High Jump after clearing 1.52m (4' 11.75").

In the throws the Bulldogs dominated. Beginning with the Shot Put where Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) and Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) went one-two. Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) and Ellie Mann (Portland, OR) were sixth and seventh.

Sherry threw 12.85m (42' 2"), Havel posted an 11.38m (37' 4"), Chavez threw 10.62m (34' 10"), and Mann had a 10.40m (34' 1.5"). Sherry, Havel, and Mann all had personal bests.

The Maroon and Grey continued that dominance with the Discus, the final event on the day where they had four of the top-five marks, including the Top-3, which helped them come from behind to top the Athenas.  Chavez led the way with a personal best of 42.68m (140' 0"), which came on her final attempt. It improved her No. 5 mark all-time.

Havel also recorded a personal best and improved her No. 6 mark as she was the runner-up. Her third attempt was her best throw at 41.59m (136' 5").

Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) had a big personal best of 40.47m (132' 9"), which is the No. 9 mark all-time. Her third place finish got the Bulldogs six points.

The fourth Bulldog to score in the event was Sherry who recorded a mark of 37.66m (123' 7"), another personal best.

Lily James (Okai, CA) took seventh in the Pole Vault after clearing her third height of 3.05m (10' 0") as she ties her personal best.

Redlands goes to Los Angeles this Saturday, May 4 as they compete at the Occidental Invitational.
