BERKELEY, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams sent four athletes to the Brutus Hamilton Multi's hosted by UC Berkeley Thursday-Friday with Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) winning the Heptathlon with a new personal best, while Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) took fifth in the Decathlon also with a new personal best.
Bachmeier moved from second place after day one into the top spot as she scored 4521 points, 86 points better than her previous best of 4435 at the Redlands Final Qualifier last May.
She finished as the runner up in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.79. She took fifth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.46m, 4' 9.5", fourth in the Shot Put with her best throw coming in at 9.83m (32' 3") as she tied her personal best, won the 200m in 26.33, finished fourth in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.16m (16" 11.25"), ended up sixth in the Javelin with a new personal best of 27.29m (89' 6"), and finished the competition by winning the 800m in 2:24.83, 3.58 seconds faster than her previous personal best.
Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) also posted a new personal best in the Heptathlon as she took third with 4158 points, beating her previous best by 50 points from two weeks ago at the UC Riverside Classic.
She was sixth in the 100m Hurdles at 15.95, 0.22 seconds faster than her personal best, she was seventh in the High Jump with a 1.43m (4' 8.25"), another personal best, took sixth in the 9.61m (31' 6.5"), also a personal best, took third in the 200m at 26.79, a personal best, jumped 5.18m (17' 0") in the Long Jump as she took third, another personal best, took fourth in the Javelin at 29.04m (95' 3"), and ended her seven events with a fifth place finish in the 800m as she ran a 2:38.13.
Huset finished fifth with 5888 points. It is a new personal best by 418 points better than his total at the Redlands Final Qualifier last May.
He tied his personal best in the 100m in 11.29 seconds as he took third, he was fifth in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.03m, 19' 9.5", was eighth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.99m (29' 6"), took fourth in his specialty the High Jump with a mark of 1.91m (6' 3.75"), finished fifth in the 400m with a time of 52.58, took fifth in the 110m Hurdles at 15.84, a new personal best, finished seventh in the Discus with a throw of 30.77m (100' 11"), in the Pole Vault he was sixth with a mark of 3.50m (11' 5.75"), came in sixth in the Javelin at 42.07m (138' 0"), and ended his ten event competition with a fifth place finish in the 1500m as he ran a 5:17.23, a huge personal best of almost :24 seconds.
Corte Peterson (Lafayette, CO) competed in the first six events but did not finish the competition. He was fifth in the 100m at 11.47, sixth in the Long Jump at 5.97m (19' 7"), seventh in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.87m (32' 4.75"), took seventh in the High Jump at 1.67m (5' 5.75"), came in fourth in the 400m with a personal best time of 51.56, and ran an 18.20 110m Hurdles as he finished eighth, a second personal best.
Redlands will be at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite Saturday, April 6 and will then travel to the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual No. 3 hosted by Whittier College on Saturday, April 13.
