Ella Bachmeier in 21st place at NCAA Championships after four events of the Heptathlon | Places 13th in 400m Hurdles

Bachmeier earns second-team All-America honors in 400m hurdles.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) of the University of Redlands Women's Track & Field team completed the first four events of the Heptathlon on day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships and currently sits in 21st place with 2,657 points. She also ran in the preliminaries of the 400m Hurdles placing 13th.

To open the Heptathlon Bachmeier took 12th place in the 100m Hurdles running a 15.00 scoring 842 points. In the High Jump she took 21st and scored 566 points after clearing 1.45m (4' 9") on her second attempt.

In the first throwing event, the Shot Put she took 19th adding another 497 points after her first throw went 9.50m (31' 2"). In the fourth and final event of the day she came in 16th in the 200m after running a 26.52. Her time scored her 752 points and puts her 599 points behind the leader and 309 points outside the eighth and final scoring and All-American position.

In the 400m Hurdles in the afternoon she took 13th, one place better than her 14th seeding, running a 1:03.34. Only eight of the 22 runners qualified for the finals on Saturday. Despite not qualifying for the finals, she does earn second-team All-America honors.

Friday is the final day of the Heptathlon with the Long Jump beginning at 10:30 a.m. PST as she has three more events to try and move up in the standings.
