MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) for the University of Redlands Women's Track and Field team finished the final three events of the Heptathlon Friday during the second day of competition at the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championships and moved up from 21st place to 17th as she finished with 4,377 points.
At the end of the fourth event Thursday she had 2,657 points. Beginning the day, she took 17th in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.04m (16' 11") as she added 581 points to her total.
She finished 14th in the Javelin with a third and final throw of 26.96m (88' 5"). She scored 419 points in the event and raised her total to 3,646 points and moved to 17th place in the overall standings.
Her best finish in the competition was in the final event as she took ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:27.01 for another 731 points.
With the conclusion of Heptathlon and the prelims of the 400m Hurdles Thursday, Bachmeier sees her season come to an end but collected the accolades, which included being named the USTFCCCA West Region Track Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA All-West Region in the Heptathlon, 400m Hurdles and the 100m Hurdles, was voted the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Year, and earned 1st Team All-SCIAC recognition in the 100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 4x400 Relay, 4x100 Relay, and the Heptathlon.
Bachmeier will be attending graduate school at the University of Redlands next year and will compete for the Bulldogs for her final season.
