CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Swimming and Diving teams fell on the road to nationally ranked Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday in their final road regular season Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) meet.
Men
The Bulldogs dropped their head to head dual with the No. 15 ranked Sagehens 179-99.
Their 400 Medley Relay team of Garrett Krattiger (Helena, MT), Davis Wingard (Springfield, OR), Ethan Chir (Las Vegas, NV), and Memphis Gile (Redlands, CA) took second place with a time of 3:31.86.
That was one event of four that Krattiger took Top-3 in as he won the 1650 Free in 16:47.67. He added a second event win in the 200 Back in 1:51.82. That time would be fourth fastest in program history if the school record was not already held by him. His fourth Top-3 finish came in the 200 Free Relay when he led the quartet of Cameron Jones (Pleasanton, CA), Cole Goyette (Rancho Cucamonga, CA), and Gile to a third place finish in 1:28.19.
Chir also won the 100 Back in 59.47. He was the 200 Back runner-up (2:12.78), finishing 0.92 seconds behind the winner, and the 400 IM second place finisher (4:26.27).
Other Top-3 finishers included Flynn Bayne (Seattle, WA) in the 100 Back (56.52), Goyette in the 100 Back (1:00.93), Landynn Olivas (El Centro, CA) in the 200 Fly (2:05.79) and 100 Fly (55.84), Gile in the 50 Free (21.75) and 100 Free (47.63), Jones in the 50 Free (22.48), and Joey Madigan (Arlington, VA) in the 500 Free (4:54.70).
Women
The women fell 222-54. They had a total of seven Top-3 finishes as they faced the No. 8 ranked team in the country.
Among the Top-3 finishers was Avery Wells (Seattle, WA) who finished as the runner-up in the 50 Free (25.35) and 100 Free (55.42).
Joining Wells with multiple Top-3 finishes was Lina Matera (Hingham, MA) who took second place by only 0.09 seconds in the 100 Breast (1:11.61) and third in the 200 Back (2:14.44).
The final three Top-3 finishes came from Mackenzie Neese (Folsom, CA) who swam the 1650 Free and took third, touching in 21:02.17, Morgan Felix (Burnt Hills, NY) who came in third in the 200 Breast (2:43.22), and Rylie Kohl (Eastvale, CA) in the 400 IM (5:12.59).
Redlands will get a weekend off before they return home to the Thompson Aquatic Center on Saturday, January 25 to host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps beginning at 10:30 a.m.
