Redlands, Calif. – The University of Redlands Swimming and Diving teams lost to nationally ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual-meet inside the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC) Saturday morning.
Men
The Bulldog men fell 232-48 against the No. 15 ranked Stags and totaled eight Top-3 finishes.
Leading the way was Garrett Krattiger (Helena, MT) who helped the 200 Yard Medley Relay team including Davis Wingard (Springfield, OR), Memphis Gile (Redlands, CA), and Cameron Jones (Redlands, CA) placing third with a time of 1:36.22.
Krattiger also took second place in the 200 Fly, swimming a personal best 1:56.57 for an additional four team points. In the 100 Fly he swam another personal best of 52.11 and took third for three more points. Finally in the 200 IM he had his second runner-up finish, a team-high, with a time of 1:57.55.
Wingard added a second place finish in the 100 Breast in a 1:00 flat. The other threeTop-3 finishes came from Nick Barner (Los Angeles, CA) in the 100 Back (55.84), Flynn Bayne (Seattle, WA) also in the 100 Back (56.02), and the 400 Free Relay quartet of Barner, Jones, Joey Madigan (Arlington, VA), and Gile taking third in 3:18.39.
Women
The Bulldog women dropped their dual 249-41 to the Athenas. As a team Redlands had a trio of Top-3 finishes against the No. 12 ranked team in the country.
Avery Wells (Seattle, WA) took third in the 200 Free in 2:01.76. Lina Matera (Hingham, MA) was the lone swimmer for Redlands who finished inside the Top-3 multiple times as she took third in the 100 Back (1:02.52) and then swam a personal best of 1:02.60 in the 100 Fly as the event runner-up.
The Bulldogs complete the regular season at home inside the TAC this coming Saturday, February 1 at 10:30 a.m. in a tri-meet with Occidental College and Whittier College.
