CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (1-11) completed their four-game Convergence Tournament Saturday afternoon with a pair of losses to Division I Cal State Northridge (18-7) and Division II Fresno Pacific University (13-4).
Game 1: Cal State Northridge (L, 18-7)
The Bulldogs found themselves behind 9-2 at the half against the Matadors with their two goals coming from Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) and Kennedy Mobley (Wildomar, CA). In the third quarter, though, Redlands was able to find the back of the net four times, pulling them within seven, 13-6. Parker scored twice and Alyssa Sorrell (Highland, CA) and Lucia Notaro (Thousand Oaks, CA) each tallied their first of the afternoon during the quarter.
After a strong offensive quarter, the Bulldogs were unable to maintain that momentum in the fourth as the Matadors pulled away.
Daisy Rojo (Highland, CA) made five saves in net and five of the seven goals came from Parker and Sorrell.
Game 2: Fresno Pacific (L, 13-4)
In the final game of the afternoon, the Bulldogs trailed 4-0 before Christine Chua (Arcadia, CA) got them on the board in the first two minutes of the second quarter.
Notaro got the second goal of the day with 1:36 to play in the third. The final two scores came from Mobley and Parker, while the UR defensive unit held the Sunbirds scoreless over the final five minutes.
Parker had a strong all-around game with a goal, drawn exclusion, and two steals. Aubree Nabors (Conroe, TX) made the start and record two saves.
Redlands plays their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game under Tamara Perea on Wednesday, March 5 at Occidental College with game time set for 7:00 p.m.
