The No. 14 University of Redlands women's tennis team made
the trek to Santa Cruz on Saturday for an important regional match
against the Banana Slugs. The Bulldogs captured an impressive score
of 9-0 victory over No. 28 UC Santa Cruz.
Redlands quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles
matches, with the No. 3 team of junior Rachael Miller (Newport
Beach, CA) and senior Tori Damiani (Sacramento, CA) leading the
charge with an 8-1 win.
In singles, the Bulldogs captured every match in two sets, with
Damiani defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1, before junior Whitney
Waters (Austin, TX) clinched the team's victory with a 6-1,
6-0 performance at No. 5.
Redlands (7-2) welcomes No. 6 Amherst College (MA) to Verdieck
Courts on Thursday at 3 p.m.
