The University of Redlands women's water polo team used
stellar offensive play by senior driver Claire Quinn (Fresno, CA)
in both of its games on Tuesday, defeating Macalester College,
12-6, and Wagner College (NY), 6-5.
Against the Scots, both freshman driver Joy Corona (Lake Bluff, IL)
and Quinn netted three scores apiece to pace the Bulldog offense.
Additional goals came from freshman driver Aisha Akima (Honolulu,
HI), freshman driver Casey Sripramong (Glendale, CA), sophomore
driver Tory Haynes (Valley Center, CA), freshman driver Allison
Feeney (Palo Alto, CA), freshman center Jaime Nippert (Gresham, OR)
and freshman driver Jordan McKee (Apple Valley, CA). In goal,
junior goalkeeper Whitney Schieler (Porterville, CA) anchored the
defense with 10 saves.
The team faced a tougher test in its second contest of the
afternoon as it squeaked out a win against NCAA Division I's
Wagner. Quinn fired home a game-high three goals in the win, while
senior center Sam Greenawalt (Riverside, CA), senior driver Alex
Haynes (Valley Center, CA) and Sripramong each chipped in a score
of their own. Schieler tended the net again and fared well,
stopping seven shots.
Redlands (8-11) hosts a portion of the Cal Baptist Tournament this
weekend at the Thompson Aquatic Center. The Bulldogs square off
against Colorado State University at 9 a.m. before closing out the
day with a 4 p.m. matchup with Concordia University-Irvine.
