Senior center Sam Greenawalt (Riverside, CA) scored six and
senior driver Claire Quinn (Fresno, CA) netted four as the
University of Redlands women's water polo team edged Whittier
College, 14-12, on Wednesday in Whittier.
Additional Bulldog goal scorers included senior driver Alex Haynes
(Valley Center, CA) with two and freshman center Jaime Nippert
(Gresham, OR) and freshman driver Joy Corona (Lake Bluff, IL) with
one apiece.
Redlands trailed, 11-12, heading into the fourth quarter, but three
unanswered goals lifted the Bulldogs over Whittier.
Guarding the net for the Maroon and Gray, junior goalkeeper Whitney
Schieler (Porterville, CA) stopped nine shots.
Sarah Peel led Whittier with five goals while the Poets'
goalkeeper, Anahisa Aguirre, tallied nine saves.
Redlands (12-15, 4-2 SCIAC) closes out its Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) season with a 11 a.m.
game against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday in Claremont.
