The University of Redlands women's water polo team downed
Chapman University, 15-5, before falling to Iona College (NY),
9-14, in Claremont Convergence Tournament action Friday in
Claremont.
Freshman driver Jill Stein (Palm Desert, CA) buried three goals
against the Panthers, spearheading the Bulldogs' offensive attack.
Sophomore center Jamie Paul (Boring, OR) and freshman center Mandy
Nussbaum (Bellevue, WA) each boasted a hat trick, while freshman
driver Kara Parker (Houston, TX) scored twice. Freshman driver
Moana Tuipulotu (Lahaina, HI), sophomore driver Joy Corona (Lake
Bluff, IL) and junior driver Tory Haynes (Valley Center, CA) each
found the back of the net once to round out the Maroon and Gray's
scoring against Chapman. Senior goalkeeper Whitney Schieler
(Porterville, CA) made six saves protecting the Bulldog cage before
handing the game off to junior goalkeeper Tiana Singley (Benicia,
CA). Singley made three stops.
Schieler's 10 saves helped Redlands keep up with Iona, but the
Gaels' offense ultimately prevailed in the end. Sophomore center
Jaime Nippert (Gresham, OR) offered a trio of scores, while
Nussbaum and Stein each added two. Tuipulotu and sophomore driver
Casey Sripramong (Glendale, CA) chipped in a goal apiece.
