The University of Redlands women's water polo team celebrated
Senior Day with a 16-6 victory over the University of La Verne
Saturday morning at the Thompson Aquatic Center in Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action.
The program honored its two seniors, goalkeeper Whitney Schieler
(Porterville, CA) and driver Jade Valenzuela (Indio, CA), in a
pregame ceremony.
Freshman driver Moana Tuipulotu (Lahaina, HI) and sophomore
driver Joy Corona (Lake Bluff, IL) each boasted a hat trick, while
sophomore center Jamie Paul (Boring, OR) and freshman driver
Georgia Tunioli (Riverside, CT) buried two goals apiece. Freshman
driver Kara Parker (Houston, TX), sophomore center Jaime Nippert
(Gresham, OR), freshman driver Stephanie Taylor (Sacramento, CA),
junior driver Chandler Weeks (Palm Desert, CA), freshman driver
Lindsey Zehner (Portland, OR) and freshman driver Jessica Medvec
(Tualatin, OR) all scored once to complete Redlands' tally.
Schieler drew the start in net, stopping four shots, before handing
the game off to junior goalkeeper Tiana Singley (Benicia, CA) and
freshman goalkeeper Cecile Gernez (Mountain View, CA). Singley and
Gernez each made one save.
Redlands (10-12, 1-2 SCIAC) competes in its home finale on
Wednesday (April 14) when it takes on Whittier College at the
Thompson Aquatic Center. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
