After an 11-day break from competition, the University of
Redlands women's lacrosse team took to the road on Wednesday night
for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SCIAC) match against the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges.
The Bulldogs faced an early three-goal deficit and never
recovered en route to the disappointing 6-16 loss.
Redlands gained two scores apiece from freshman attack player
Aimee Dewan (Alamo, CA) and junior midfielder Christy Smith (St.
Louis Park, MN). Smith also contributed two ground balls and two
caused turnovers. Sophomore attack player Blair Callaghan (Tacoma,
WA) and senior midfielder Haley Kern (Portland, OR)
also provided one goal each.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) made six
stops between the pipes but suffered the loss for the Bulldogs. She
also tallied three caused turnovers and one ground ball.
Redlands (9-5, 4-2 SCIAC) looks to rebound on Tuesday when the
Bulldogs head to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for a 6 p.m. showdown
against the Sagehens.
