Redlands Women's Lacrosse Levels Linfield for Ninth Straight Victory

Box Score

The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team rattled off 16 unanswered goals en route to a dominating 21-2 victory over the visiting Wildcats of Linfield College (OR) on Thursday. The Bulldogs trailed after an early Linfield netter but the deficit was short-lived, leading to an offensive fury that included 12 different goal-scorers for the Maroon and Gray.

Wildcat junior attack player Anna Gorciak (Troutdale, OR) found the back of the net off of an assist by freshman midfielder Shelby Duarte (San Ramon, CA) for the first goal of the game just 35 seconds into the action.

From here, however, Redlands controlled the competition with 16 straight goals through the 17-minute mark of the second period. Amidst this offensive eruption, sophomore attack player Crystal Painter (Lake George, NY) uncorked a hat trick during a span of just 3:33. She finished the night with four goals, three assists and two ground balls.

Although Linfield converted a scoring opportunity with 16:20 left in the game, Redlands' stranglehold on the game was never in question.

In addition to Painter, the Bulldogs gained three goals from freshman midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR), while sophomore attack player Aimee Dewan (Alamo, CA) and junior attack player Blair Callaghan (Tacoma, WA) added three assists each.

Junior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) racked up five draw controls and four ground balls, with sophomore midfielder Katie Colasurdo (Eugene, OR) and freshman midfielder Jacky Craycraft (Lake Forest, CA) providing four ground balls apiece.

Junior defender Rachel Haag (Newtown, PA) recorded her first goal of the season, which came off of a free-position shot with less than five minutes to play.

The Bulldogs utilized three different goalkeepers, with junior Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) earning the win after nearly 10 minutes of action. Her team led 7-1 when she exited the field. Freshman Erica Schulteis (Carlsbad, CA) and sophomore Stephanie Honeycutt (Portland, OR) preserved the win, sharing the remaining time between the pipes.

Redlands (9-0) looks to extend its undefeated streak when it resumes Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition on Wed., March 30, against rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. The teams square off at 7 p.m. on Farquhar Field.
