UR Women's Lacrosse Scores Season-High 21 Goals in SCIAC Victory over Whittier College

Box Score

After overcoming a slow start, the University of Redlands women's lacrosse team fired off seven goals in the final 3:09 of the first half to defeat the Whittier College Poets by a score of 21-15 during Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown.

Redlands' sophomore attack player Jacky Craycraft (Trabuco Canyon, CA) notched the opening score of the game, but Whittier responded with four unanswered netters to take an early 4-1 lead less than 10 minutes into the action.

Senior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) and senior defender Ashley Finke (Austin, TX) led the Maroon and Gray's comeback, combining for eight of the team's 12 goals in the final 20 minutes of the first half. Finke recorded the tying goal with just over three minutes remaining, which inspired an offensive onslaught of six more scores to make it 13-7 at the end of the stanza.

Minutes into the second frame, junior attack player Aimee Dewan (Alamo, CA) uncorked a hat trick of her own within a two-minute span. She connected with Finke, Prickett and senior attack player Blair Callaghan (Tacoma, WA) for three unique assist-providers. Dewan's final score became the eventual game-winner for the Bulldogs.

Among the multi-goal performers, sophomore midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) notched four netters, while Craycraft found the back of the net on three occasions and dished out one assist.  Junior attack player Crystal Painter (Lake George, NY) led all players with three assists.

Senior goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) earned the win while making 13 saves.

Highlighted by McCaslin's team-leading four draw controls, the Bulldogs nabbed 19 on the day.

Redlands (4-0, 4-0 SCIAC) heads to the Northwest for a three-game road trip, beginning with the University of Puget Sound (WA) on Wed., Feb. 29, at 6 p.m.
