Redlands Women's Lacrosse Blasts Carthage College in 18-3 Triumph

Box Score

The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team opened its two-game trip to Colorado Springs with a resounding 18-3 win over Carthage College (WI) on Friday afternoon.  After giving up the first goal of the game less than two minutes into the action, the Bulldogs erupted for nine-straight scores to create substantial momentum for the impressive non-conference victory.

With an incredibly proficient offense, the Maroon and Gray notched 18 goals for the third time in its last four games.

After the Lady Reds initiated the scoring, the Bulldogs gained the equalizing netter from freshman attack McKenna Tychsen (Park City, UT) off of an assist from senior midfielder Emily Dalrymple (Snohomish, WA).

Beginning at the 24:20-mark, Redlands uncorked four goals over the next four minutes, with sophomore attack Dulce Moll (Mercer Island, WA) and sophomore midfielder Breanne Rideout (San Diego, CA) bookending the spurt, while junior midfielder Stephanie Garrett (San Diego, CA) supplied a pair of netters in a 30-second span.

The Bulldogs enjoyed another four-goal outburst at the midway point of the stanza, as freshman midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR) and senior attack Elizabeth Keilty (Yorba Linda, CA) joined Garrett in the scoring frenzy.

Although Carthage managed two scores in the final six minutes, Redlands answered with two netters of its own for an 11-3 halftime advantage.

Redlands' stifling defense kept the Lady Reds completely off the board in the second half, as the Bulldog offense fired off seven more scores for the 18-3 victory.

Overall, junior Sam Keary played a key role in holding Carthage to only three scores by providing four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.

In addition to Garrett's five-goal performance, the Bulldogs gained a hat trick from Tychsen, while Rideout found the back of the net on two occasions.  The remaining nine scores came from unique contributors.

Dalrymple dished out four of the team's nine assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Gigja Hollyday (Aliso Viejo, CA) and freshman goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) split time between the pipes for another successful showing.  Hollyday collected her fifth win of the season after making three stops in the first half.  The duo combined for a perfect 15-for-15 performance on clears.

Redlands (7-3) faces the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday, March 29, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
