Quinn Egan's Record-Setting Effort Lifts Redlands Women's Lacrosse to 12-4 Win over Centre

Box Score

The University of Redlands women's lacrosse team concluded its Spring Break trip on a high note by cruising to a 12-4 victory over Centre College (KY) on Wednesday afternoon.  The Bulldogs broke an early one-all tie with seven-consecutive goals to pull away in the non-conference bout.

After a successful clear by the Bulldog defense, senior midfielder Breanne Rideout (San Diego, CA) put Redlands on the board by converting a free-position shot with 24:24 remaining in the first half.

Although the Colonels answered right back with a goal less than two minutes later, the Bulldogs relied on the brick-wall play of junior goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) to shut out the home team for the remainder of the half.  She finished the frame with 12 saves and went on to break the single-season school record with 22 stops in a complete-game effort.

In the meantime, Redlands fired off six netters to take a 7-1 halftime lead, with freshman attack player Charly Walter (Bethesda, MD) and sophomore midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) leading the charge with two scores apiece.  In addition, junior midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR) and freshman midfielder Sadie Pickering (Tacoma, WA) each found the back of the net once, while senior attack player Dulce Moll (Mercer Island, WA) dished out three assists for the Maroon and Gray.

During the second stanza, Pickering kept up the Bulldogs' offensive pressure by converting a sweet pass from Moll to make it 8-1 less than three minutes into the action.

However, Centre refused to back down and uncorked three-consecutive scores to cut the deficit to four with plenty of time left in the game.

Nonetheless, the Bulldogs looked to Egan to come up with a big save and ground ball at the 17-minute mark, which set up Pickering's next goal.

From here, the Bulldogs tacked on another three goals to secure the 12-4 win, with Morford and Pickering providing the scores.

In addition to breaking the single-game school record for saves, Egan initiated 23 successful clears in an excellent effort between the pipes.  She faced 26 shots overall.

Morford and Pickering each accounted for four goals, while Moll totaled five assists in an impressive display.

Redlands (3-2) returns home to Farquhar Field on Wed., March 8, for a 7 p.m. conference showdown against the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens.
