VENTURA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Golf team made a statement over the weekend opening the conference schedule at SCIAC No. 1 at Olivas Links Golf Club finishing in a tie for 2^nd place with the University of La Verne shooting scores of 300-289 for a 589.

It was a slow start for the Bulldogs who found themselves in a tie for 4^th Place (300) with Whittier College after Day 1 of competition.  But they regrouped on Day 2 to fire off the second lowest team round of the weekend posting a 289 that moved them up two spots into 2^nd. 

They jumped ahead of Cal Lutheran (4^th – 598), Whittier College (5^th – 599), Pomona-Pitzer (6^th – 601), Chapman University (7^th – 606), and Occidental College (8^th – 611).  Claremont-M-S took home the top score with a 289-283 (572) and La Verne who tied with Redlands went 293-296 (589).

First year Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) put together an amazing two days for the Maroon and Grey, career lows with a 73 in Round 1 and then dropping two strokes in Round 2 to fire off a 71 moving him up four spots into a tie for 2^nd.  He finished E for the two days with a -1 on the final round. 

Jared Stone (American Canyon, CA) finished just outside the Top 5 dropping six strokes between the two rounds going 76-70 (+2) that put him 6^th.  He had one of the biggest jumps within the standings moving up 11 spots after shooting -2 over the final 18 holes.

Senior Kyle Sharp (Laguna Beach, CA) rounded out the Top 10 improving over the two days with a 75-72 (+3) that bumped him up three spots into 9^th.  Joshua Fambro (Taos, NM) was consistent over the two days with a pair of 76's (+8) to finish with a 152.  After Day 1 he dropped into a tie for 22^nd.

Ben Cowan (Orange, OH) had a big drop for the Bulldogs going from 29^th to 37^th after posting a 78-79 (+13).  Ryan Crema (Surrey, England) who opened with an 83 was able to bounce back with a 76 (+15), moving him up three spots into 41^st.              

Redlands returns to the links with a busy March schedule.  They travel to Las Vegas, NV on March 7-8 for the Winona State University Warrior Invitational at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.  Then from March 18-20 they fly to Jekyll Island, GA for the Jekyll Island Invitational at Jekyll Island Golf Club (Pine Lakes Course).
